Call for Abstracts

The Initiative on Accelerating Vaccine Production for Africa will host the International Conference on Innovation, Intellectual Property and Technology Transfer in Africa’s Pharmaceutical Sector (IIPTTAPS Conference) on 29th & 30th January at Four Point Hotel, Kigali, Rwanda. The conference will facilitate conversations on sustaining the momentum on key issues in the interface of innovation, intellectual property and technology transfer to strengthen Africa’s pharmaceutical sector to meet domestic needs and better prepare for the next outbreaks, epidemics and pandemics.

We hereby call on academics, researchers, innovators, entrepreneurs, and policymakers working on the topic to submit abstracts on their work relevant to the
aim and themes of the IIPTTAPS Conference.

  • Technology gaps and innovation capacity in Africa’s private sector
  • Intellectual property rights and vaccine markets in Africa
  • Innovative financing models to develop Africa’s vaccine R&D Ecosystem
  • New development-centred approaches to build Africa’s domestic vaccine ecosystem
  • Technology transfer in the vaccine sector: best practice studies and normative frameworks
  • Regulating Africa’s vaccine sector
  • Market shaping, pooled procurement, and trade incentives for Africa’s vaccine sector

Submission guidelines :

  • Abstracts must be submitted as a single PDF document, including charts, images, author(s), and their affiliations to abstracts@avpafrica.org. The deadline is 11:59 pm (GMT), 27th October 2023.
  • You can submit up to 3 charts/images per abstract.
  • Authors and affiliations are not considered in the word count limits.
  • Authors and co-authors can submit multiple abstracts, but no one will be accepted as a presenting author for more than two abstracts.
  • The decision on the abstracts will be communicated by 10 November 2023, but full papers from all presenting authors are due by 05 December 2023.
  • Interested authors will be invited to submit their articles for an edited publication
